The POSH Story

Plantation Oaks Stitchers and Hookers is made up of ladies that enjoy knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing with the added pleasure of gifting their handmade treasures to others.  It began in August 2002 by Marie Crow, a former resident.  At that time 22 members provided Project Linus with blankets for seriously ill and traumatized children.  Since then, POSH has expanded and  also provides baby blankets, baby presentation wraps, bibs, burp bibs, booties, hats, layettes, nursing pillows, sweaters, alarm bags, chemo hats, clothing  protectors, lap robes, shrugs, shawls, slippers, valances, walker bags, catheter bags, car seat blankets, cocoons, and scarves to Alpha Pregnancy Center, Flagler-Volusia Hospice, Flagler Pines Nursing Home, Ormond Birthing Center and St. Girard Campus.

POSH meets the second Thursday of the month from 2:00—4:00 p.m. in the clubhouse.  New members are always welcome.  There are no deadlines for completing items and no dues.  We have a selection of patterns to use and willing members to help.  Each project has a detailed information sheet about the items we make.  Stop by to see what we do or join us in making things.

For more information, call the Coordinator, Marlene Gilman at 439-4222.

POSH Facts: POSH has received many donations over the years from: individuals (friends/residents), Rotary Club of Flagler Beach, Bunnell Lions Club, Variety Entertainment Night, Craft Fair contributions from Gail and Johnny Kach and through fundraisers (PO Yard Sale, PO Craft Fair, book and cookbook sales).  All these donations go back into POSH to buy more yarn and material.
